Poltoranin (KAZ) and Kowalczyk (POL) take wins in Muonio sprints

Alexey Poltoranin of Kazakhstan continued his winning ways from last season where he recorded a career best four World Cup victories with a win today in Muonio, Finland.  Local favorite Anssi Pentsisen of Finland who had the mornings best time in the qualification round fell in the later heats and did not advance to the finals.   

Poland's Justyna Kowalczyk took the victory in the ladies' sprint.  Kowalczyk was the morning's fastest qualifier and easily handled her way through all the rounds to capture the win in the final.  

The three day weekend of competition continues tomorrow with the 5/10 km in the classic technique.
