Team Sweden with Ida Ingemarsdotter and Charlotte Kalla was superior today in the Classical Team sprint in Oslo and became World Champions. Krista Lahteenmaki for Finland had more left in the tank and beat anchor woman of the team Norway in the finish and brought Finland and Aino Kaisa Saarinen to silver medal. Home crowd saw bronze medal of team Norway with Maiken Caspersen Falla and Astrid Uhrenholdt Jacobsen.

Aino Kaisa Saarinen and Krista Lahteenmaki were very active in the front of the field and were setting the pace most of the race. Finland, Sweden and Norway built up a gap on the remaining teams. Before the last exchange team Finland made a small mistake and Charlotte Kalla for Sweden gave it all and attacked.

Neither Krista Lahteenmaki nor Astrid Jacobsen could follow and the Swede broke away. In the longest uphill Jacobsen decided to attack and tried to catch Kalla. Lahteenamki was close behind Jacobsen and the chasing duo came together in the stadium. Charlotte Kalla was hammering hard and crossed the finish line first. Lahteenamaki gave everything she had and edged out Jacobsen to third place.

Quotes

Charlotte Kalla SWE

This morning I didn't dare to hope for this. It feels great!  We had a good last exchange and I got a few meters. I just raced as fast as I could.  We had fantastic skis and it felt good. My dreams came true today.  Tomorrow's relay is going to be exciting.

Ida Ingemarsdotter SWE

Winning in Holmenkollen and in Norway is fantastic. I promised Charlotte I would give it all on the final leg of miine. There are more distances coming up and I believe Sweden is on the way up.

Maiken Caspersen Falla NOR

I knew I had to follow Aino Kaisa Saarinen (FIN) at any cost. And I did.  My legs felt like jelly and was a little nervous in front of the large crowd. I saw a lot of familiar faces.  I got revenge from the individual sprint.  This is my best championship result ever.  Before the final leg we were in a good position for a medal.  This was so much fun. I want to thank all the spectators for support.

Astrid Uhrenholdt Jacobsen NOR

The Swedes had a good exchange and I lost a few meters. So I had to try to catch up with Charlotte.  I felt it was more important go for the gold than to secure the silver. Therefore I decided to attack in the long uphill.  I was totally empty towards the end. Trying to catch up Kalla had cost me too much.  I want to thank Marit Bjoergen for not racing today or I wouldn't stand here now.
