Sylwia Jaskowiec joins Justyna Kowalczyk’s training group
Poland’s skier Sylwia Jaskwowiec had a very successful World Cup season with her first podium ever in Oberhof and 5th place at the Olympic Winter Games in Sochi in the Team Sprint. Now the young athlete has decided to join the training group of Justyna Kowalczyk.
“I went to Justyna Kowalczyk with the proposal of cooperation. She agreed and I am very grateful that I can join her team, I'm starting a new chapter with a new motivation and a new team,” Jaskowiec said in a Polish Ski Association (PZN) press release.
Polish Cross-Country team was trained by Slovakian coach Ivan Hudac, who decided to leave after the season. “The idea was born after the decision of the coach [Ivan Hudac], who decided to end his coaching career. Two years of working with him were very fruitful, raised my motivation for Olympic Games preparation. Past seasons have been a breakthrough for me. I would like to thank him for the time,” Jaskowiec explained.
Kowalczyk’s coach Alexander Wierietielny will look at the Jaskowiec’ training log to plan the training for the next winter. “I told Sylvia that I am not a magician and can not promise that she will be champion such as Justina. We'll work and we'll see what he can do,”Wierietielny said.
