Tchekaleva and Vylegzhanin pursuit champions

Second day of the Russian Championships in Syktyvkar was marked by pursuit races over 15/10 km. Both on the ladies' and men's side it was tight races. Yulia Tchekaleva captured victory with a time of 44:06.4 sec. Runner-up Valentina Novikova was edged out by only one second and finished second with a race time 44:07.8. Olga Mikhailova with 44:10.5 took bronze medal.

On the men's side Maxim Vyleghzanin proved both his distance and sprint skills as he in the finishing straight beat second Konstantin Glavatskikh by only one second. Vylaghzanin came to finish with the fastest time that stopped on mark 1:18:23.8. Second Glavtskikh came in 1:18:24.9. Youngster Petr Sedov who performed extremely well at the Junior World Ski Championships in Hinterzarten and won a ticket to Vancouver captured third place with 1:18:25.1 sec.
