Russia's Cross-Country team with World number five Alexander Legkov and number nine Ilia Chernousov in the overall World Cup standings have had a busy training season. In May they trained in Magglingen, Switzerland. In July the took part in the German central performance tests in Oberhof and a few days later they left for a 30 hours long trip to Australia. After four weeks Down Under another training camp has been on the schedule, this time in Germany at the border with the Czech Republic in Oberwiesenthal.

"We had a perfect training season. Everywhere we have trained we've had perfect conditions. I'm really looking forward to the forthcoming winter," Ilia Chernousov said to fiscrosscountry.com.

The team spent three and half weeks in Australia and could enjoy ideal winter conditions with temperatures around -4°C. During the stay in Australia Legkov and Chernousov focused on technique. "I spent three weeks on skis and trained more than 1.000 km. I hope it will help me to win many competitions in the winter," Alexander Legkov claimed.

During the Australian training camp Alexander Legkov and Ilia Chernousov took part in two FIS competitions. At the end of their stay they also competed in the famous long distance competition Kangaroo Hoppet, which had to be shortened to 32 km due to unfavourable weather conditions.

After having returned from the Southern Hemisphere they spend ten days at home before hitting the road again. This time to Oberwiesenthal, which lies on the German-Czech border. The mountain resort offers great running, MTB and roller skiing training conditions. The team will conclude the autumn part of the training in Davos and 10-day training camp in Schnalstal in October.
