German Cross-Country skier Tim Tscharnke was involved in a car accident during a roller skiing training on Monday. Tscharnke was taken to hospital for check ups and observation.

On Monday Tscharnke was roller skiing in Lichtenau (Thuringia) when he crashed with a pick up truck. He hit in the driver's side and was dragged shortly. The rear of the van rolled over his left thigh.

"It's been very painful for Tim. Especially hie left elbow was badly hit," Germany's head coach Frank Ullrich said to www.insuedthuringen.de after having visited Tim in the hospital.  "Maybe the injured elbow will require operation, but doctors want to let the swelling trickle away first," Ullrich added.

The Cross-Country family is wishing Tim successful and speedy recovery.
