Sports week in Aure/Kristiansund continued yesterday afternoon with classical sprint. Norway’s skiers topped the men’s podium as Katja Visnar beat Marit Bjoergen on the ladies’ side.

Marit Bjoergen won the opening stage of Toppidrretsveka but in the classical sprint it Slovenia’s Katja Visnar who claimed victory. “I am very happy to beat Marit,” Visnar said. “I tried hard but Katja was in great shape, she deserved victory tonight,” Bjoergen commented. Heidi Weng completed the podium as she claimed the third place.

Eldar Roenning is indisputably one of the classical technique specialist in the World. The winner of 50 km Holmenkollen this year showed great sprint skills and dominated already the qualifying session. Roenning went all the way through to the finals where he left behind his teammates Lykkja, Brandsdal, Clausen, Golberg and Pettersen.

Friday morning is featuring running stage of Toppidrretsveka 2012 followed by the afternoon pursuit roller skiing competition in free technique.
