Vibeke Skofterud to decide about 30 km Mass Start Classic on Saturday
Vibeke Skofterud, the Vasaloppet winner in record time will decide on Saturday if she takes part in the 30 km Mass Start Classic, which takes place on Sunday. "She has been having troubles with her elbow. We will decide on Saturday if there is a race for her," Egil Kristiansen said to NTB.
Skofterud stormed to sensational victory in Vasaloppet last week as she laid down new record. However, the gold medalist from World Championships 2011 paid the price of an inflamed elbow.
Norway's squad for Sunday will be featuring the best skiers Egil Kristiansen has available. Marit Bjoergen will be leading the team and can build up the advantage on Justyna Kowalczyk in the overall World Cup standing. Therese Johaug has been in great shape this season and is on the top of the list of favorites. Kristin Stoermer Steira made a successful come back in World Cup and claimed 4th place in skathlon last week in Lahti. Heidi Weng grabbed the first World Cup podium result last week in Lahti and Astrid U Jacobsen showed her strength a few days ago in Drammen.
