Vibeke Skofterud to sit out FIS Tour de Ski
Norway's top Cross-Country skier Vibeke Skofterud decided not to take part in the seventh edition of the FIS Tour de Ski and instead compete at World Cups in Canada.
"It was a difficult decision as I wanted to fight in the Tour de Ski," Skofterud said to www.nrk.no.
In December, FIS Cross-Country World Cup returns to Canada after a two-year break. For the first time Canadian metropolis Quebec will host sprint and team sprint events. Canmore will take over a weekend later with three competitions.
Skofterud has the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in Val di Fiemme in sight. "I tend to be in a good shape in December. It's about moving the peak to February/March," Skofterud said to VG.
Vibeke Skofterud has claimed four medals at the World Ski Championships including two golds. But all of them in the relay and individual medal success is still missing in her collection. In the summer the Norwegian trained so hard she had to take two weeks off.
In the forthcoming season Skofterud who won Vasaloppet last winter plans to compete in Jizersky 50 in the Czech Republic on 13th January as she has signed a two-year contract with professional Team NPRO.
