Norway's Heidi Weng has won her first FIS World Cup tour event.  Weng began the 3 day competition in Lillehammer, Norway with her first ever sprint win and ended it with a victory in the final day 10 km classic technique pursuit.  She began the day with a 20 second lead over her teammate Ingvild Flugstad Oestberg and crossed the finish line with a 16.1 second margin of victory.  Finland's Krista Parmakoski who started the day in 5th place picked off Norway's Marit Bjoergen and the USA's Jessie Diggins to move into 3rd place and overtook Oestberg in the final kilometer but a fall on the second last downhill gave second place back to Oestberg.  Despite the fall, Parmakoski recorded the fastest time of the day and finished third overall for her first ever tour podium.

ATHLETE QUOTES

Heidi Weng (NOR)
Today it was not easy at all. I felt very tired in the first lap. I knew Krista was skiing really fast. I was afraid Krista and Ingvild were coming close to me. I am happy about my performance during the last two weekends.

Ingvild Flugstad Oestberg (NOR)
Krista was coming really fast from behind. The gap was getting smaller and smaller. I am really satisfied with 2nd place. It would have been better if Krista did not fall and we could fight until the finish. It is fun to win the first podium of the season.

Krista Parmakoski (FIN)
I felt like I was flying today. It was an amazing race. My body worked very well and my skis were perfect. It was an advantage to ski behind Ingvild. On the last downhill I had to take my chances if I wanted to win. The fall was unfortunate but I am happy for 3rd place.
