The FIS fanfare, the official anthem of the International Ski Federation which is widely known from FIS World Championship and FIS World Cup events has been composed by Otto Strobl. The Austrian composer, former music teacher and organist from the Burgenland region who celebrated his 85th birthday in autumn 2012, was a long-time director of the well-known Haydn Choir. Throughout his life, he has composed more than 500 pieces and thus influenced many features in the musical life of his home country and its capital Vienna.
The FIS fanfare is enchanting the spectators of the different FIS World Ski Championships numerous times as it will be used at each key event. This includes the Opening Ceremony and presentation of officials, the raising of the FIS flag, the start of each race, the winner’s presentations and award ceremonies, as well as the closing ceremony.
