Voss 2013 all set for Freestyle Worlds
There are just a few days left until the world’s best Freestyle skiers will be rolling into Voss and Oslo (NOR) for the FIS Freestyle World Ski Championships. After intensive preparations, the two venues are now set to stage the grand event from 5th-10th March. The 15th edition of the Championships will take place in Myrkdalen-Voss and Oslo and feature men's and ladies' title events in aerials, moguls, dual moguls, ski cross, halfpipe and slopestyle.
More than 390 athletes from 35 nations have entered to compete in the highlight event on the 2013 calendar. Some of the “big names” include 2011/12 FIS World Cup champion in ski cross Filip Flisar (SLO), top aerialist Dmitri Dashinski (BLR), and current moguls World Cup leader Mikael Kingsbury (CAN). On the ladies’ side, current aerials World Cup leader Mengtao Xu (CHN), moguls dominator Hannah Kearney (USA) and the ski cross globe winner Marielle Thompson (CAN), among others, will be leading the fields of competitors ready to battle it out for the medals.
The first event of the Championships, the ski halfpipe medals competition will be staged in Oslo’s spectacular new superpipe on 5th March. After this, the rest of the title competitions in will be held in Myrkdalen, 25km from the town center of Voss.
