Passing of Othmar Schneider
Othmar Schneider, one of Austria’s skiing legends and Olympic gold medallist has passed away on 24th December at the age of 84 years. Throughout his career, Schneider triumphed in numerous FIS World Cup races and celebrated his biggest successes as Olympic gold and silver medallist in the events of slalom and downhill in the 1952 Olympic Winter Games in Oslo (NOR). Amongst other, his achievements were honoured by the “Austrian Athlete of the Year 1952” award.
After his career as a ski racer, Schneider was director of a skiing school in Boyne Mountain, Michigan (USA), and Portillo (CHI) and thus actively contributed to the development of ski sports at an international level.
