FIS Development Programme
At its Meeting in Kangwonland in spring 2012, the Council decided to connect the Aid & Promotion Programme and FIS Solidarity Support in the future, in order that there is a better coordination between these two areas and to avoid overlapping of activities. The newly appointed Council's FIS Development Programme Working Group has been tasked with preparing a proposal to submit to the FIS Council in June 2013 about the structure and organisation of the FIS Development Programme. Please find the letter of the Chairman of the Working Group, which has been sent to all NSA, A FIS Development Programme Information Session for all National Ski Associations will be held on The Aims of the FIS Development Programme
According to the Statutes: http://www.fis-ski.com/uk/rulesandpublications/fisgeneralrules/statutes.html; of the International Ski Federation (FIS), one of the fundamental aims is "to promote the sport of skiing and to supervise and direct the development of all skiing activities” The philosophy of the International Ski Federation is that money should be raised for the sport, not from the sport.
FIS endeavours to provide support to develop activities through various different means: a) By providing direct financial support to the FIS member National Ski Associations. b) Through the FIS Development Programme for developing ski nations which is financed by the registration fees from Candidates for FIS World Championships and provides seminars, training camps, courses and other specific organised activities. c) Through FIS Solidarity which was established by FIS in 2002 as a fund to support special projects that are designed to progress the sport.
