Best of the Alps und SOS Children's Villages International team up for World Snow Day

Selected Best of the Alps member destinations have come up with something special to mark the inaugural World Snow Day. Together with local cable car companies and ski schools, they are inviting children from SOS Children's Villages for a day of adventure in the snow. Best of the Alps is delighted about this collaboration with the SOS Children's Villages International, headquartered in Innsbruck. Children from SOS Children's Villages in Germany, France, Italy and Austria will travel to partner locations in all five Best of the Alps countries. The action is being supported by ADAC (the German automobile association), which is participating in the transport costs, and Intersport, who will help by providing sports equipment. In addition, K2 has also been acquired as ski partner and BMW, the official cooperation partner of Best of the Alps, is also supporting the initiative.

The daily program will look similar in all locations and will contain various snow sport activities under professional supervision, with enjoying being in the snow and nature at the forefront of the experience. The goal is to fill children with enthusiasm for winter sports and, through World Snow Day, to offer them easier access and the opportunity for practising them. The possibility of staying overnight will be offered to those Children's Villages who are travelling from SOS Children's Villages further afield.

Best of the Alps is a cooperation of the twelve classic alpine resorts Chamonix Mont-Blanc, Cortina d'Ampezzo, Davos, Garmisch Partenkirchen, Grindelwald, Kitzbühel, Lech Zürs, Megève, St. Anton, St. Moritz und Zermatt. The association has been in existence for more than 20 years and its goal is to position these twelve resorts as the leading alpine destinations and to market them worldwide.

Best of the Alps has also started to create its own products including the Best of the Alps Award and the Best of the Alps Golf Cup. BMW has been an official cooperation partner since 2011.
