The first ever FIS Ski Cross "Super" Continental Cup will be held 4th-8th August with two back to back competitions on 6th and 7th August at Nevados de Chillan, Chile followed by a ski cross training camp from 8th-15th August. These ski cross events will have maximum point value of 650 points compared to 500 points for a FIS Continental Cup.  The snow conditions are superb and a number of National Teams such as the Canadians with reigning ski cross world champion Kelsey Serwa have registered.

"We are excited to be hosting this prestigious first ever event at Nevados de Chillan," says Gonzalo Navarrete, marketing manager for the resort. "We want to showcase to the rest of the world what Chillan is all about including several new chairlifts and some of the best snow conditions in years."

Nevados de Chillan is located 600 kilometers south of Santiago, Chile. Under new ownership one of the highlights of a trip to the ski area is the cat skiing on extinct volcanos.  "We have 3 different volcanos where our guests can enjoy cat skiing," says Navarrete. "In addition we have one of the biggest hot springs outdoor pools in the country...combine that with a world class spa and other amenities which allow our guests enjoy a wonderful experience at our resort."

“This is a big event for Chillan and the athletes and the sport of ski cross," commented Stefano Arnhold president of the Brazilian Snowsports Federation. "After organizing the first ever ski cross competition in South America in 2010, we are now very excited to be in Nevados de Chillan for the first ever ski cross COC giving all South-Americans the chance to score important points and to help the development of ski cross on our Continent."

With the successful introduction of ski cross on the Olympic Winter program in Vancouver, a ski cross "fever" has taken off globally and the organizers of the SCoC are planning on hosting the event annually.
