Ski Jumping commissioners hold annual gathering in Val di Fiemme

The annual meeting of the Ski Jumping commissioners for 2011, known in FIS lingo as "Obmen," took place in Val di Fiemme, the site of the FIS World Ski Championships 2013. The Obmen are the chiefs of all Jumping Judges and Jumping Technical Delegates (TDs) in their countries, responsible for proposing the judges from their nations for the different assignments and for educating and updating the national officials.

This time around the focus of the Obmen's gathering was different from the 25 previous annual meetings, as it was designed to create a very special emotional connection to the mountains. The 14 Obmen from Europe and North America arrived in Val di Fiemme on Friday 9th September to enjoy an Italian style dinner with pizza, music and games before moving on to the Rifugio Passo Feudo, a typical hut at an altitude of 2'200m over the sea level from where the Dolomiti UNESCO World Heritage Site can be observed.

Despite the altitude of the hut, a beautiful and sunny day with temperature over 23° provided the participants with an inspiring backdrop for their discussions focused on analyzing the past season's work by technical delegates and jumping judges as well as reviewing the rules changes in the ICR.

The weekend culminated in a challenging hiking trip up the famous Dolomiti "Torre di Pisa" which reaches the altitude of 2,671 meters.
