Another major milestone in the bidding process for the FIS World Championships 2016 and 2017 was reached by the nine Candidates this week in Zürich. At the beginning of the FIS Autumn Meetings 2011, each of the Candidates was given the opportunity to present their initial event concepts to the FIS Inspection Group. All three candidates for the Alpine events (Ǻre of Sweden, Cortina d’Ampezzo of Italy and St Moritz of Switzerland) and the four candidates for the Nordic events (Lahti of Finland, Oberstdorf of German, Planica of Slovenia and Zakopane of Poland) along with the candidates for the Ski Flying World Championships 2016 (Kulm of Austria) and the combined Freestyle Skiing and Snowboard World Championships 2017 (Sierra Nevada of Spain) had two hours to present their projects in the detail, as well as to discuss open issues and questions with the FIS professionals and representatives of the rights holder European Broadcasting Union and its marketing partner Tridem Sports.
