Ullr Award 2011 for ‘100 years of International Skiing'

Ullr Award 2011 for ‘100 years of International Skiing'

The latest FIS book entitled ‘100 years of International Skiing 1910-2010' by E. John B. Allen and Egon Theiner has won the coveted Ullr Award 2011 awarded by the International Skiing History Association (ISHA). Similarly the ISHA Television/DVD Production Award has been earned by ‘100 years of FIS: 1910-2010' produced by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) under the leadership of Arthur Hächler.

Previously two FIS supported books, ‘Skisport in den bildenden Kunst' and ‘Skiing in Arts and Design' edited by Karin Rase, have claimed the Ullr Award in 2008 and 2010, respectively.

‘100 Years of International Skiing' was released at the 47th International Ski Congress in Antalya in June 2010, which marked the centennial of the very first International Ski Congress held in Christiania (NOR, later known as Oslo) on 18th February 1910. Commemorating the first century of international skiing, the book makes no attempt to be a complete history of our sport, but was designed to give readers a taste of its colorful history. It is a trip through time from Congress to Congress, from Olympic Games to Olympic Games as well as a portrait of developments in sports science, techniques and technology.
