Kitzbühel book wins international award

Kitzbühel book wins international award

The „Chronicle of a Myth", a book published in celebration of the Kitzbühel Ski Club (K.S.C.) 100th Anniversary, was presented with the Skade Award by the International Skiing History Association (ISHA) in Sun Valley (USA) last week.

The Kitzbühel Ski Club Chronicle was originally published in the German and English languages in the autumn of 2002. In addition to the details on the Club's 100 year history, the Chronicle depicts all Hahnenkamm Races with stories of incredible success while describing the defeats and tragedies of many generations of legendary skiers. With a wealth of anecdotes and contemporary observations, technical details on the race course, statistics and some previously unpublished photos, each race is vividly portrayed. The history of the Kitzbühel Ski Club (K.S.C.) is well documented, as is the development of ski sport in Kitzbühel. Setbacks and new beginnings of the Ski Club are recorded, as are the great pioneering times. Interesting details on the greatest K.S.C. sporting legends, "Das Wunderteam" can be found under the title, „Old Masters and their Students". The "Chronic of a Myth" is one of the most comprehensive ski books of all times; accurately describing the history of a Ski Club and one of Austria's biggest sporting events. The Skade award was presented to K.S.C. President Dr. Michael Huber and Vice President Peter Obernauer during ISHA's 75th Anniversary Celebrations.

The book is available from the Kitzbühel Ski Club (K.S.C.) at the price of Euro 35,- (241 pages, color illustrations).
