Schlierenzauer and Kofler set tone of Four-Hills

Schlierenzauer and Kofler set tone of Four-Hills

No Grand Slam for Gregor Schlierenzauer! After Andreas Kofler fought back in the third competition of the 60th Four-Hills-Tournament in Innsbruck, the chance to win a million Swiss Francs is gone for Schlierenzauer, the winner of the first two events in Oberstdorf and Garmisch-Partenkirchen (GER). However, his chances for a first Four-Hills-Tournament victory are still intact as he has a solid lead in the overall rankings.

Andreas Kofler won his home competition in front of 22,500 fans at the Bergisel in Innsbruck with a fantastic jump in the final round. The overall World Cup leader moved up from fifth after the first round to celebrate his tenth World Cup victory in the sold-out arena.

"I am very happy that I was able to win here on my home hill at Innsbruck. It is very emotional for me. This victory means a lot because many athletes never managed to win in their hometowns and to do this during the Four-Hills is just perfect. So this is a really special day for me," said Kofler.

The conditions at this year's Tournament have brought many challenges for the competition jury. The main issue has been the wind which has been changing a lot, from tailwind to head wind and no wind.

With 768 points Andreas Kofler now leads by more than 100 points ahead of Schlierenzauer (656 points) in the overall Bauhaus FIS Ski Jumping World Cup rankings.
