Sanna Tidstrand, Simone Origone win speed titles Because of a recent avalanche in Vars (FRA), the FIS Speed Skiing World Cup Final, due to be held there on 8th-11th April, has had to be cancelled. FIS commiserates with the organizers who had already done much preparation, and with the athletes who are denied this opportunity to compete. An alternative location for this race could not be found at such short notice. Consequently the World Cup race held in Hundfjallet is now defined as the Final of the 2011 World Cup season. The season titles 2011 hence went to Sweden's Sanna Tidstrand who dominated the ladies' circuit in her comeback season by claiming all six race victories. Teammate and 2010 champion Linda Baginski took 2nd. In the men's competition, Simone Origone beat younger brother Ivan by 88 points for another title. The Swede's impressive team result was complemented by Christian Jansson in 3rd place in the men's rankings. The season concluding highlight, the 2011 edition of the World Speed Skiing Championships will take place in Verbier-Nendaz (SUI) as scheduled on 18th-20th April 2011.
