Roller Skiing World Cup continues in Italy The second Roller Skiing World Cup weekend took place in the northeast of Italy hosted by the cities of S. Giacomo di Roburent, Torino, Prato Nevoso and Mondovi on 2nd-3rd July. The weekend kicked off in St. Giacomo with a prologue where Svetlana Hvostunkova (RUS) and Simone Paredi (ITA) claimed victory. The program continued with a pursuit competition which was dominated on the ladies side by Hvostunkova. On the men's side Alexander Denisov completed the Russian success, winning just 0.9 seconds ahead of Glauco Pizzutto (ITA). The series then continued in the mountain resort of Prato Nevoso on Saturday. The cold and rainy weather did not stop the roller skiers and an excellent sprint competition was held. Former top Cross-Country sprinter Guro Stroem Solli (NOR) won the challenging sprint. Ragnar Bragvin Andresen secured the Norwegian double victory by winning the men's competition. A team sprint completed the long weekend in Mondovi. Four ladies and 13 men teams tackled the challenge of the team sprint under nice and sunny conditions. Russia I with Alisa Pershakova and Elena Ektova won the ladies' event while the Italians celebrated a home victory with Simone Paredi and Emanuele Sbabo in the men's competition.
