FIS Jumping Judges evaluate season in Grainau (GER)
The biannual seminar for the FIS Jumping Judges took place in Grainau/Garmisch-Partenkirchen (GER) on 30th June-2nd July. 60 participants from 15 countries met under the leadership of Ueli Forrer, Chairman of the FIS Sub-Committee for Officials and Rules, to review the past season with focus on evaluating the performance of the judges. This included a video analysis of selected jumps and evaluation of the 2010/11 season.
"Overall, we are satisfied with the performance of the judges in the past years, although there are a few things we have to improve especially in the judging of the landing. That is why I am happy that so many motivated participants came to Grainau to attend this update and will now return to share the knowledge in their home countries," stated Ueli Forrer.
12 judge candidates from 11 countries took part in the seminar which included an additional training session for the candidates and a written exam for becoming a certified FIS jumping judge. The second part, the practical test, will take place during the upcoming winter as part of an official assignment at a FIS competition.
A special thanks are due to to the logistical organizer of the seminar, Franz Rappenglück, the German Ski Jumping Commissioner (or Obman as they are known within the FIS family) for being an excellent host.
