Southern hemisphere ski season begins
Perisher ski area, Australia's largest, has announced it will open this weekend, nearly a month ahead of schedule, opening the Southern hemisphere ski season.
There will be a mini terrain park and basic resort facilities operating with all proceeds going to charity. Season Pass holders can ski or board for free.
Cold weather this week after the heavy snow last week has allowed for extensive snowmaking with snowmaking across Perisher's Front Valley from 22 guns creating over 1600 cubic meters of snow on Tuesday night alone.
