FIS Aid&Promotion Training Camp for Cross-Country and Nordic Combined 2012
The 2012 edition of the FIS Aid&Promotion Training Camp for Cross-Country and Nordic Combined took place in Harrachov, Czech Republic from 14th-28th January 2012. 28 athletes and 12 coaches representing 14 nations participated in the daily program of on and off-snow training, lectures and recreational activities and fully benefited from the excellent snow conditions. Just two ski jumping training sessions had to be cancelled due to heavy winds and snowfall.
The two evening lectures during the camp included a presentation by Professor Tomáš Perič from the Charles University about speed and speed power development and a theoretical and practical exercise session led by the Czech Cross-Country team's physiotherapist Richard Jisl that focused on compensation exercises for skiers.
The participants also had the opportunity to compete in a Cross-Country race in Jilmenicka on 21st January 2012, where the Armenian camp participant Sergey Mikayelyan took first place. The Czech camp organizers and FIS are very proud to see such great results based on the training camp program. Overall, the level of the participating athletes shows significant improvement especially in the focus area of classic technique which has been a priority year after year.
