French General Assembly unites in Dijon

The 82nd General Assembly of the French Ski Federation took place on 22nd-23rd June 2012 in the city of Dijon (FRA).

As the French Ski Federation has a tradition of carrying out its annual assemblies across the 17 regions, this time it was at the honor of the Regional Committee of Bourgogne to host the 82nd edition.

The annual reunion united the 50 members of the steering committee which validates the strategic direction of French Skiing. Besides the approval of the accounts, the meeting contained reports from the various committees.

With regards to past season results, Michael Vion, President of the French Ski Association stated that “the French Ski Association is satisfied with the performance of the athletes, especially since France is one of the nations which performs well in all FIS disciplines, with perhaps the exception of Ski Jumping.”

While Alpine Skiing still remains the major activity acquiring 80% of advertising and sponsorship revenues, also disciplines such as Freestyle Skiing have seen rising interest in past years.

In connection with the next Olympic Winter Games in Sochi (RUS) 2014, the French Ski Association set the goal of winning 15 medals, of which five should be gold. In the past Games in Vancouver 2010, the French Ski Association scored 11 podium results.
