Study Groups inspect Schladming 2013
Two four day sessions for the official Study Groups comprising members of the Vail/Beaver Creek 2015 and St Moritz 2017 Organising Committees, World Cup Organisers from Cortina d’Ampezzo, Groeden, Courchevel, St. Anton and the Sochi 2014 Olympic Organising Committee visited Schladming during the 2013 Championships to inspect the installations and to develop an understanding of the infrastructure and organisation “behind the scenes”.
The Study Group programme consisted of individual meetings with the heads of delegations, familiarisation with the organisational structure of the World Championships, assignment of volunteers and accreditations as well as the set-up of different areas including the finish zone and restricted areas. During their stay, the participants were also able to watch the races and participate in side events.
“For the members of our Organisation, it is extremely important to participate in this study trip. This is a crucial chance to see and learn from the event as it is happening”, one of the participants of the Sochi 2014 delegation stated.
The Study Group programme introduced by FIS promotes on-site learning experience and establish networking opportunities between current and future World Cup, World Championship and Olympic Winter Games Organisers and is part of the Transfer of Knowledge programme that also involves gathering of facts and figures, sharing of information and exchange of know-how during the preparation phases.
