Cortina d'Ampezzo, Italy - Candidate for Alpine Events in 2017

Cortina d'Ampezzo, Italy - Candidate for Alpine Events in 2017

Cortina d'Ampezzo is bidding for the third time to host the FIS Alpine Ski World Championships. A young team of 20 persons from the area of Cortina is currently working for the bid and would be keen to be the host of the 2017 FIS Alpine World Ski Championships. The charm and authentic Italian lifestyle are among the key assets of the candidature.

Cortina's bid is linked to large investments (approximately EUR 250 Mio). The master plan for both the town of Cortina and the candidacy call for refreshing the Olympic host of 1956. Especially powerful is the support of the Veneto Region, with a strong willingness of attracting this event to Cortina by the city and its habitants, not having hosted the FIS Alpine Ski World Championships since 1956 in combination with the Olympic Winter Games.
