FIS Grass Ski Junior World Championships in Burbach

From 25th-29th July, the FIS Grass Skiing Junior World Championships were held on German soil in Burbach. In the season’s top event for young Grass Skiing talents, 46 participants from nine different nations in Europe, Asia and North America fought for medals.

The Organizing Committee of the Sport Club Burbach located in North Rhine Westphalia, in central Germany did an outstanding job organizing the event. After the official opening ceremony on Wednesday, 25th July, the following days featured exciting races in super-G, super combined as well as slalom and giant slalom for 15 to 20-year-old athletes.

Austria scored the best team result with a total of 11 medals, ahead of the Czech Republic (six medals), and hosting nation Germany (three medals).

The event’s most outstanding athletes were Sascha Posch (AUT) and Adéla Kettnerová (CZE). Sascha Posch scored two gold medals in giant slalom and super-G races, as well as a bronze medal in super combined. On the ladies‘ side, Adéla Kettnerová recorded two top podium results in super-G and super combined and a bronze medal in the slalom.

Austria’s Rettenbach will play host to next year’s FIS Grass Skiing Junior World Championships.
