Vonn, Clark, White and Rolland for 2011 ESPYs

Vonn, Clark, White and Rolland for 2011 ESPYs

Three-time Audi FIS Ski World Cup champion Lindsey Vonn (USA) and Olympic gold medalist snowboarder Kelly Clark (USA) comprise an unprecedented half of the Female Athlete of the Year ballot for the 2011 ESPY Awards. On the men's side, two-time Olympic gold medalist Shaun White (USA) and French freestyle skier Kevin Rolland are nominated for Best Male Action Sport Athlete.

The Athlete of the Year category is the highest individual honor with Vonn as the ladies' incumbent. Her 2010 victory was the first time a snow sports athlete had won the top honor in the ESPYs' 18 year history. Clark paved the way for snowboarding in 2002 when she became the first athlete to win the ESPY for Best Action Sports Athlete after winning the Olympic gold medal in halfpipe.

The ESPYs are determined entirely by popular vote. Polling is open now here. Voting closes 9th July at midnight EST. The ESPY Awards will air live on 13th July 13 at 9 p.m. EST.
