Successful re-launch of Children's Grand Prix

Successful re-launch of Children's Grand Prix

Last weekend saw the reintroduction of the FIS Children's Grand Prix in Ski Jumping and the first of the summer competitions taking place in Garmisch-Partenkirchen (GER). This traditional event was carried out previously from 1989 to 2006, but given the construction of the new large hill in Partenkirchen, there was no HS 43 hill available in the past years, so a break ensued. The new facilities at the 1936 Olympic stadium are now complete, opening the way for the reintroduction of the Children's Grand Prix.

The weekend included two Ski Jumping competitions (individual and team), a soccer tournament, an endurance competition and a coaches' seminar with two lectures as well as a tour of the hill and a BBQ. The children were full of enthusiasm and visibly enjoyed their days at the Olympic stadium in Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

87 participants aged 10-13 from 16 nations, among them 15 girls, participated in the events and winners in six different categories were crowned. With Latvia, a new nation was welcomed in the Ski Jumping family.

As has become traditional, the Ski Club Partenkirchen organized an event which many of the participants will remember as their first, and unforgettable, international competition. Sincere thanks to the organizers!
