Final inspection for Vikersund 2012
With 148 days to go until the FIS World Ski Flying Championships 2012, FIS officials together with the Local Organizing Committee, the Norwegian Ski Association, the Norwegian Host Broadcaster NRK as well as broadcasters from Austria and Germany participated in the two-day long Final Inspection in Vikersund on Tuesday and Wednesday this week.
Only a couple of months after the successful FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in Oslo, NRK is again ready to produce another spectacular FIS Championship. The Final Inspection provided an opportunity for all the participants to review the detailed plans for the event. NRK presented its production and camera plans, and plans for the IBC and TV compound as well as the mixed zone.
Terje Lund, Event Manager with the Norwegian Ski Association commented: "Everything is going according to the plan, including the building of a new chair lift, and we are all looking forward to another Championship on our home soil."
Additional items under review by the FIS team led by Walter Hofer, FIS Race Director Ski Jumping, included event related aspects, such as the sports program, ceremonies and TV schedules.
The FIS World Ski Flying Championships will take place in Vikersund on 23th-26th February 2012. The World Ski Flying record was set on this very hill by Norwegian Johan Remen Evensen, who flew impressive 246.5 meters there last February.
