Falun 1000 days to go
Thursday 24th May marked the milestone of exactly 1,000 days to the opening ceremony of the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in Falun which will begin on 18th February 2015. The Championships are expected to attract more than 200,000 spectators.
The special day was celebrated with much positive energy and enthusiasm for the preparations for the approaching World Championships – and for the new event logo that was released during the 1,000-days-to-go celebrations in Falun.
The new logo is a colorful representation of the ski jumping hills in Falun and its release provided a powerful symbol for the increasing tempo of preparations for the World Championships.
“Our new logo is both exciting and attractive, well-suited to Falun’s profile as a skiing and cultural destination. We’re also very pleased that the logo has been so well-received by FIS, by the EBU and by Swedish Television, SVT.
“Naturally the approval of stakeholders like these carries some weight,” says Sven von Holst, CEO of Falun Organizing Committee.
Work on preparing for the 2015 Nordic Word Ski Championships is accelerating each day that passes, which is of course very encouraging for Sven von Holst:
“Today’s very enjoyable celebrations were also a reminder for us all that time really does fly. So I’m very pleased to say that we are well on schedule for our World Championships preparations. Most sub-projects are progressing to plan and our organization now has a stable structure and a fast increasing tempo in its work,” Sven von Holst says and continues:
“The only hitch so far is that renovation work on the jumping hills hasn’t kept up to the schedule we’d been hoping for. But we’re very aware of that issue and are now working hard so as not to lose any more time on the project. We all know that time is at a premium.”
