FIS Ski Jumping Grand Prix in Courchevel

FIS Ski Jumping Grand Prix in Courchevel

The FIS Grand Prix in Ski Jumping is underway in Courchevel (FRA). Yesterday, 14th August, the Japanese team won the newly introduced mixed team competition on the normal hill. Second place in an extremely close and exciting event went to Germany and only a tiny margin of 0.5 points behind, Austria came in third.

A total of 13 teams took part in this first mixed team competition featuring two female and male jumpers per nation. Among the key highlights was Germany’s Pascal Bodmer’s longest jump with 95 meters.

FIS Ski Jumping Race Director Walter Hofer reaffirmed: "This new format carries high potential. From a sporting perspective, it enables the integration of more nations in the competition and the number of potential medal winners is increasing. Also from the athletes‘ side it has received high acclaim so far. Our summer series is ideal for optimizing organizational processes that the mixed team competition requires. We are convinced this event will become a fixed element in the future of Ski Jumping.“

The men and ladies will continue with individual competitions on Wednesday in Courchevel before moving on to Hinterzarten (GER) on Friday, 17th August.
