Lasse Ottesen new Nordic Combined Coordinator
FIS is pleased to announce the appointment of Lasse Ottesen to a newly created position of FIS Nordic Combined Coordinator from 1st May 2011.
Aged 34, from Norway, Lasse Ottesen has just concluded a key role as Assistant Sports Director for the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in Oslo 2011. A former ski jumper, he competed at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships four times and the Olympic Games three times and won the silver medal on the normal hill in Lillehammer 1994. His subsequent career has been focused on Nordic Combined both as coach of the US Ski Team from 2004 to 2008 after two years as the Norwegian team coach.
Previously he had spells working in the media as a television commentator and in the ski industry. Lasse is married to Lena, they have four children and in addition to his native language he speaks English and German.
The role of the Nordic Combined Coordinator will be primarily the organization of the planning, marketing and promotion of the discipline, collaboration with Organizers and National Ski Associations in this respect, working with the other Nordic disciplines including calendar scheduling, coordination with FIS Marketing AG and support of sponsoring activities and communication with television rights holders and media. Uli Wehling, Nordic Combined Race Director will focus on leading the technical aspects of the organisation of Nordic Combined, the jury work at the events, training and education of the officials and support of the Nordic Combined Committee and sport development projects.
