Telemark: Reymond and Rykhus reign at Rjukan After summing up the overall results, Amelie Reymond (SUI) and Eirik Rykhus (NOR) became the queen and king of the Telemark World Championships 2011 in Rjukan (NOR). Reymond collected a total of two gold and one silver medal to win the ladies' combined rankings, while Rykhus snatched a gold and a bronze medal along with a 10th place finish, enough for the men's combined titles. Two-time overall World Cup winner Reymond was best in both sprint and giant slalom and the runner-up in the classic behind Sigrid Rykhus, Eirik's sister. In the men's sprint, the gold went to Philippe Lau of France and in the classic, to Sweden's Mattias Wagenius. The most successful nation at Rjukan was host nation Norway which collected nine medals, three of each, followed by Switzerland which recorded a total of seven medals (3-1-3). Sweden and France both won three medals while Team Germany went home with two silver medals. |
