277 Days to first World Snow Day: Team grows

The countdown is on to Explore, Enjoy and Experience the wonders of the snow with the inaugural FIS World Snow Day 277 away.

As in of the international FIS Campaign ‘Bring Children to the Snow,' the World Snow Day aims to encourage a large number of children, their families and friends to participate in an annual snow festival involving various activities around the world. Although the day will be officially held on the 22nd January 2012, events will be carried out throughout the week leading up to that Sunday.

There have been many new developments in the World Snow Day campaign. One of biggest ones to date is the creation of the World Snow Day website which will officially be launched at the FIS Calendar Conference in Portoroz (SLO) at the address www.world-snow-day.com. The website will be the key promotional platform for the World Snow Day and its event organizers. It is home to a huge array of tools from event locators to event profiles, World Snow Day event planning guides, event ideas and finally a live update system which allows event organizers to update their profile and keep people informed of their event's progress.

To help manage this exciting project FIS welcomes Andy Cholinski as part of the World Snow Day team. Andy is 23, from Australia and is in the final year of his double degree at the University of Technology Sydney. While studying a Bachelor of Management in Leisure and a Bachelor of International Studies he has found the time to maintain his passion for snowboarding. With his family originating from the mountain towns of Poland and then immigrating to Australia, Andy has always carried a passion for the snow and all its activities. He competed up until the age of 18 and has travelled all over Europe, Japan, Canada and North America following the winters during the Australian summers. Amidst the travel, he also found the time to be the one of managers of Alpsport and APS Boardroom in Sydney for six years. As part of his International Studies degree, Andy is living in Fribourg (SUI) for one year and during this time he will assist the World Snow Day preparations and will primarily be responsible for the website development and WSD communications. Andy is fluent in English, Polish and also very comfortable speaking French.
