Stein Opsal new Secretary General in Norway Stein Opsal, the former Chief of Finance and Vice Chair of the Oslo 2011 Organizing Committee, has begun his new job as Secretary General of the Norwegian Ski Association. The 54-year-old worked for the Oslo 2011 team together with Åsne Havnelid since 1st September 2007. "There will be some overlap with closing the books of the Oslo 2011 which will officially conclude on 25th August, although some final details will probably still take until closer to Christmas time to be finalized " said Opsal who is happy to be able to continue working with the sport of skiing. "There will be many new things for me in the beginning and my main focus initially will be to get to know the organization, from the headquarters at the Ullevål Stadion to the regions, the political structures and the entire Skiing Norway," he added. Stein Opsal has been active in ski sports all his life but only began to work in the sport professionally when he was engaged with Oslo 2011. "It will be exciting to continue work on the Federation side after 3.5 years with the Championships. The NSF is the most interesting federation in Norway to work for and the sport of skiing is currently enjoying a great tailwind. I am looking forward to further developing the organization together with the Skistyret. There are six disciplines in the NSF and I will try to put equal focus on all," he noted. One of Opsal's main areas of emphasis will be continuing the good youth recruitment. "Several thousands of children want to get involved in organized skiing activities in the future. I hope to contribute to creating a working structure with good leadership and a platform for ensuring that Norway remains the world's leading ski nation also in the future." |
