2012 FIS Alpine Training Camp concludes

2012 FIS Alpine Training Camp concludes

The FIS Alpine Training Camp program for the 2011/12 season under the framework of the FIS Aid & Promotion program began on 25th September 2011 on the glacier in Mölltal (AUT). A total of 37 athletes from 19 nations participated in the first weeks of the program that were spent on the various glaciers in the high Alpine region. Following the first break in October the program continued with short dry-land training camps in South Tyrol and despite the thin snow cover the various groups managed to complete a very intensive training program. The participants, all born between 1993-1996, were divided into three groups that were trained by eight coaches and support staff.

Before Christmas the camp participants competed in various FIS races with significant success. After a short break over the Holidays, the training continued and six of the youth aged athletes even had the chance to be part in the first edition of the Winter Youth Olympic Games (YOG) in Innsbruck (AUT), including delivering some quite impressive results.

It was an unforgettable experience for the young girls and boys. All participants involved experienced great excitement and joy and enjoyed the entire program which concluded on 23rd January 2012.
