Professor Schröcksnadel turns 70

FIS would like to extend its congratulations to FIS Council Member and President of the Austrian Ski Association, Professor Peter Schröcksnadel, who is celebrating his 70th birthday on 30th July 2011. Just days before his birthday last weekend, Professor Schröcksnadel received the so-called "Großes Ehrenzeichen“ (Decoration of Honor) that is presented for extraordinary services to the Republic of Austria. Austrian minister of sport Mag. Norbert Darabos, who honored Professor Schröcksnadel on the occasion of a festive award ceremony, called him the "Alpha of Austrian sports".

Professor Schröcksnadel has served as President of the Austrian Ski Association since 1990. Prior to that, he was Vice President from 1987-1990 and responsible for recreational skiing from 1978-1990. A successful entrepreneur, he is also the founder and owner of Sitour Produktions- und WerbegesmbH and of Feratel Media Technologies AG and CEO of four subsidiaries of the Austrian Ski Association.

An enthusiastic skier and fisherman, Professor Schröcksnadel still competes in Masters competitions when he has time. He is married and lives in Innsbruck.
