Sixth big air at Stockholm Olympic stadium

Sixth big air at Stockholm Olympic stadium

Three weeks after the season's first big air contest in London, Stockholm will host the second competition of the current LG Snowboard FIS World Cup. On Saturday, the big air cracks will meet in the Swedish capital for the sixth consecutive time since 2006. More than 60 riders from 17 nations are entered to start at the 2011 Stadium Winterjam which will take place in the 1912 Olympic Stadium.

The high-class field is led by Janne Korpi (FIN), who sits on top of the overall World Cup rankings for freestyle thanks to his victories in New Zealand (halfpipe) and Britain (big air). Moreover, Korpi has already clinched victory in Stockholm twice and leads a strong Finnish delegation including Roope Tonteri (FIN) and reigning world champion Petja Piiroinen (FIN)

This year, eleven Swedes are about to chance their luck as are London runner-up Seppe Smits (BEL) and Joris Ouwerkerk (NED) who took 3rd in the British capital.
