Fifth IF Forum in Lausanne

Fifth IF Forum in Lausanne

The fifth edition of the annual IF Forum took place in Lausanne from 14-16th November 2011, and once again offered representatives from International Federations an opportunity to discuss important current issues and share ideas about best management practices through a series of workshops, case studies and discussion groups. IOC President Jacques Rogge opened the Forum in front of 265 participants, 200 of whom represented an International Federation. All the winter federations were present as well as 25 Olympic summer federations. The Organising Committees from Innsbruck 2012, Sochi 2014, Rio 2016 and Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games were also present to learn from keynote speakers and other colleagues.

This year's event focused on Sport and the City and Building an Effective Federation, and also featured an exclusive Media Seminar to provide on-camera training for Federation representatives. FIS played an active role in supporting the organization with Marcel Looze, Event and Sponsor Manager leading a workshop entitled "Using your host city as a backdrop for your sport", FIS IT Manager, Francesco Cattaneo and Assistant Manager, Daniel Defago presenting "Technology on the field of play", whilst Secretary General Sarah Lewis moderated the second day's proceedings.

The IF Forum is organised by SportAccord Convention in conjunction with SportAccord, ASOIF and AIOWF, and with the support of the City of Lausanne/Canton of Vaud. The Forum is seen as a fantastic networking platform, especially for the IFs to learn from each other and share ideas. Several new ways of doing things were presented, and were highly appreciated by the audience.

The main event organized by SportAccord, the SportAccord Convention will next be held in May in Quebec City (CAN) which will also be the event's 10th Anniversary. For more information please click here
