Introducing FIS Council Members: Flavio Roda

The 48th International Ski Congress in Kangwonland (KOR) elected two new members of the FIS Council for the two-year period 2012-2014. The FIS Newsflash has introduced the new members in two editions. Following Andrey Bokarev (RUS) last week, Flavio Roda (ITA) will be introduced in this week’s Newsflash:

Flavio Roda (ITA)

Flavio Roda (*1948) was elected President of the Italian Winter Sports Association (FISI) in March 2012.

Prior to that, he has coordinated the Italian delegation for the Youth Olympic Games in Innsbruck in 2012 and was Technical Director at the FIS Ski World Junior Championships in Roccassaro, both in early 2012.

The former coach of Italian superstar Alberto Tomba became head coach for the World Cup men’s team in 2004, followed by the ladies’ team in 2005. From 2006 to 2007, he was director of the Alpine national team.

In his business activities, Mr Roda has been director of the Federal Technical School and coordinated “Pianeta Giovani Ratiopharm”, a development programme to grow new talent for the Italian national Alpine team.

Flavio Roda lives in Vidiciatico, is married and has two daughters.
