Season start for Telemark World Cup

Season start for Telemark World Cup

The FIS Telemark World Cup commenced in Oberjoch Bad Hindelang (GER) with a two event racing program on 12th-13th January. It was then planned to continue with another two sprint races in Bohinj (SLO) on the weekend, where warm weather however forced the cancellation of all scheduled competitions. Thankfully, the organizers of the coming weekend's World Cup events in Rauris (AUT) have agreed to stage an additional sprint race on Thursday 20th January, followed by the scheduled races (GS and sprint) on Friday and Saturday.

In February the World Cup season will continue in Thyon (SUI) followed by Meribel (FRA) and Granpallars/Espot (SPA). In March, just before the season's highlight event, the FIS Telemark World Championships at Rjukan (NOR), the World Cup Finals are scheduled in Oyer/Hafjell (NOR) over a long weekend. The FIS Telemark Junior World Championships will be held there simultaneously. The dates for the World Championships are 15th-19th March 2011.

The 2010 season dominator Amelie Reymond began her season the way she concluded last season: winning both competitions at Oberjoch. On the men's side the first events indicate that the main fight will be between the Leu brothers of France, Mattias Wagenius of Sweden and Eirik Rykhus (NOR).
