Final stretch to 2018 Games election
The International Olympic Committee is scheduled to make its decision about the host city of the 2018 Olympic Winter Games at the 123rd IOC Session in Durban (RSA) on Wednesday 6th July 2011. The vote is scheduled for 15.35-15.50 CET and the announcement ceremony of the host city for the XXIII Olympic Winter Games in 2018 for 17-17.30 CET. The IOC is offering live streaming through its website at Olympic.org. During the IOC Session in Durban, the IOC Executive Board is also expected to finalize the program of events for the Sochi 2014 Games.
This week the general assembly for the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA) will give all three candidates, Annecy, Munich and PyeongChang an opportunity to make their final pitches to the delegates. ANOCA membership numbers 53 countries that include 15 IOC members from Africa. ANOCA is celebrating its 30th anniversary in Lome, Togo.
