4th edition of the FIS Team Tour ends

The 4th edition of the FIS Team Tour concluded in Oberstdorf (GER) on Sunday with a spectacular display of very long jumps. The overall title went, as in 2010 and 2011, to Team Austria and earned them an additional 100.000 Euro pay check. Second place in the concluding Ski Flying team competition behind the Slovenians was enough for the overall victory; whilst for team SLO this was its first win in a team competition.

The Team Tour began with the triumph of the Norwegians in Willingen (GER). They won both the team competition and the individual competition with Anders Bardal taking the victory there. With Team Norge in a comfortable lead, the Ski Jumping family travelled to Klingenthal (GER) where the wind made all jumping impossible. After having left the Vogtland arena for Allgäu in Bavaria, the Austrians came back with a vengeance.

In Oberstdorf, Martin Koch won the the individual competition in a dominating fashion. With the Norwegians missing the top ten, team Austria re-claimed the overall lead and held onto it in the final team competition in which Slovene Peter Prevc performed a massive 225,5 meter flight.Unfortunately he sustained a shoulder injury during the landing forcing himto miss the Ski Flying World Championships in Vikersund (NOR). The team of head coach Goran Janus clinched the daily victory, although it was bittersweet having to receive winners' trophies without teammate Prevc who was already in hospital at that time. With the overall victory in the 4th FIS Ski Jumping Team Tour, Team Austria again demonstrated its strength and current leading position in the Bauhaus FIS Ski Jumping World Cup.
