Herbert Jung receives FIS Journalist Prize

The reporter and editor of the Bild Zeitung in Germany, Herbert Jung received the FIS Journalist Award for his accomplishments as one of the longest serving alpine ski journalists. Herbert has followed the sport of skiing since more than 30 years, launching his career at the Innsbruck Olympic Winter Games in 1964. During his career, he has attended a total of 21 FIS World Ski Championships along with several editions of the Olympic Winter Games. A key figure in promoting skiing in Germany he has accompanied the careers of the German stars from Rosi Mittermaier to Christian Neureuther and Markus Wasmaier to Maria Höfl-Riesch and Felix Neureuther, to mention just a few key figures whose triumphs and disappointments were covered with the perceptive accounts of Herbert Jung. Officially retired since 2000, Herbert continues to cover the sport while also finding time for his other favourite activities including golf and travelling.

Herbert Jung received the FIS Journalist Award from FIS President Gian Franco Kasper at the German House in Haus im Ennstal on Wednesday, 6th February 2013 in a ceremony moderated by Ralph Eder and kindly hosted by the German Ski Association. Presented by FIS to highlight exceptional career contributions to the sport, the FIS Journalist Award is given in cooperation with the National Ski Associations to selected key representatives of the media.
