International Broadcasters get ready for Sochi

The second Olympic Broadcasting Services (OBS) Sochi 2014 World Broadcaster Meeting is presently taking place in the Olympic Games Host City. Over 200 representatives of Russian and international broadcasters holding rights for the 2014 Games are on site to inspect the broadcast facilities that will be offered to them at the Games. In accordance with the Organisers’ plans, the building of the Main Media Centre, located in Imeretinskaya Valley, will be the main hub from which the Olympic Games television signal will be transmitted in 2014.

During the Games, the Centre is expected to welcome 12,000 media representatives – including over 10,000 broadcasters representing about 100 companies from all around the world. In the Mountain Cluster, broadcaster staff will be accommodated in the "Gorki" Media Centre.

Many TV companies are planning to organise their own production in the host city of the Winter Games of 2014. They will be housed in the Main and "Gorki" Media Centres and, with the help of the OBS, create national coverage of the competitions from the Olympic venues tailored for the specific audiences in various countries. A number of major television companies will begin working in Sochi as early as November 2013.

The participants of the 2nd OBS Sochi 2014 World Broadcaster Meeting are representatives of international television and radio companies including NBC (USA), CBC (Canada), ARD/ZDF (Germany), FT2/FT3 (France), Japanese Consortium (Japan), BBC (Great Britain) and of course, Russian national right holders: ANO "Sports Broadcasting", Channel One Russia, VGTRK and NTV-PLUS.
