Productive Coordination Group Meeting in Falun

The fourth FIS Coordination Group Meeting for the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2015 in Falun was held on Thursday-Friday, 19th-20th April.

Following the reports on the current status of the preparations for the Championships by the Falun Organizers to the representatives of FIS and Tridem Sports, Sarah Lewis, FIS Secretary General commented:

*The preparations of Falun are developing very well in many areas, such as the general organization, marketing, sponsorship, transportation, technology, communications, security, volunteers, additional events, ceremonies and environment. The Lugnet venue in Falun is a marvellous arena thanks to its size and existing facilities and infrastructure that are important for a good event. Everything is within walking distance from Falun downtown as well as the train station. However, the delay with the construction work necessary to the ski jumping hills is affecting the Organising Committee's work including the plans for the test events."

The Group spent a night in the beautiful area of Tällberg, located 40-minute drive from Falun and planned to host many of the guests.

"The plans for accommodation are progressing well now, too, and it will be a memorable experience for VIPs and sponsors to stay in Tällberg. There are still issues to be worked on with accommodation for the accredited groups who will stay in Falun and Borlänge and we hope that the Falun 2015 Organising Committee continues to make positive progress as in the past months," added Lewis.
